Statement of Political Endorsements
Calvary Baptist Church does not endorse any individual political candidates or parties. We do however believe that God created and ordained three institutions: the church (I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23), the home or family (Eph. 5:21–6:4), and civil government (I Peter 2:13-17).
We believe that as Christians we are all responsible to do our part to ensure all three of these institutions seek after the righteousness of God. One way to accomplish this in civil government is through Christians exercising their right to vote. We strongly encourage all Christians to vote!
We also encourage Christians everywhere to take part in the political processes to the extent each is willing and/or capable. Christians should carefully and cautiously review the platforms of each candidate, party, and/or cause in order to make well-informed Godly decisions in the voting booth.
A second and most important action for Christians to help accomplish this is through prayer (I Timothy 2:1-3). Christians must pray for our Nation, our leaders as well as our own voting decisions. We should also pray that God will burden the hearts of Christian men and women to run for and/or serve in elected and/or public offices in an effort to ensure a Godly influence on policy and lawmaking decisions at all levels of government.
We pray Christian candidates and leaders will maintain their moral integrity in all their dealings and stand on the religious principles which made our Country great when making decisions affecting our lives and liberties. Proverbs 29:2 says, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
Our Nation certainly has the potential, given to us by God, to once again receive His blessing, providence and protection. II Chronicles 7:14 reminds us, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
God bless you during this voting year as you carefully make your voting decisions. Again, we pray that God will bless America with leaders who have the courage to demonstrate Bible-based Christian standards and values in all their endeavors.
